Technology Scotland is the industry association and cluster management organisation for Scotland’s critical and enabling technologies sector. Technology Scotland is the delivery lead for Scotland’s Critical Technologies Supercluster (SCTS), in partnership with the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, the University of Glasgow and the University of Strathclyde. SCTS brings together Scotland’s strengths in photonics, quantum technology, semiconductors, and sensing and connectivity to create a single, integrated ecosystem that accelerates innovation, investment and growth (www.techsupercluster.scot).

With an ambition to grow the supercluster beyond £10 billion in revenues, the initiative delivers a programme focused on skills, investment, infrastructure, internationalisation and collaboration - strengthening Scotland’s position as a globally competitive hub for critical technologies.

The creative and cultural industries are often treated as a ‘nice-to-have,’ rather than the infrastructure that actually makes Scotland a global destination. The country’s creative sector in particular is already a powerhouse, from games and film to literature and festivals. And while it punches above its weight, it doesn’t seem to command the same attention or capital as other industries. 

In this conversation, former Skyscanner COO Mark Logan and Jessica Fox, filmmaker and former resident storyteller for NASA, come together to unpack what's happening in Scotland’s creative sector and what we can do to make it impossible to ignore.
