This Earth Day, we’ll move beyond the headlines and focus on what’s actually being done, right here in Scotland.
This special Thursday Gathering is a partnership between Venture Café Edinburgh and People Planet Pint, bringing together the organisations driving change, the people building solutions, and a community ready to take action.
Sample local honey from a a physicist turned bee farmer, learn from organisations and companies who are making a difference, and hear two conversations: one on embedding sustainability into your business, and another on waste, action, and climate innovation. This will be an exciting evening that explores the challenges of the climate emergency, highlights solutions on the horizon, and leaves you with the hope and inspiration you need to make change happen.

Join us for an evening where ideas flow easily and connections happen naturally. With a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and refreshments throughout, it’s the perfect space to meet new people, exchange perspectives, and see where the conversation takes you.
Rethink the humble business card with this creative, hands-on station!
In this drop-in activity, you’ll design and personalise your own business card using seed paper embedded with a wildflower mix. Add your details and decorations, and exchange cards with fellow attendees.
Unlike traditional business cards, these are made to last beyond the first introduction - once they’ve served their purpose, simply plant them to watch them grow.
This activity invites you to connect more sustainably, reduce single-use waste, and leave behind something that gives back to the environment!

How do you actually embed sustainability into the DNA of a business; not as a add‑on, but as a core driver of growth and purpose?
In this practical conversation, Adam Bastock (Founder of People Planet Pint and Small99) and Mehalah Beckett (Co-Chair of Scotland B Corp Local and B Corp Consultant) will share real examples from their work with businesses, bust common myths, and offer actionable steps for founders and teams ready to move from intention to action.
What does it take to create value from waste and build a real business around it?
Carbogenics is an award-winning University of Edinburgh spinout turning difficult to recycle organic waste into biochar – a carbon‑rich material that enhances anaerobic digestion and increases biogas yields. Co-Founder and COO Lidia Krzynówek was instrumental in securing investment and grant funding for the company, while also bringing years of experience linking supply chains for regional businesses and converting low-value resources into higher value bio-products.
In this fireside chat, Lidia will be joined by Michael Groves, CEO and Founder of Resordinate. Michael has spent a decade leading the argument for a data‑driven approach to waste and materials management, with work recognised by the likes of the World Economic Forum and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
Together, they'll talk about what circular innovation actually looks like on the ground: the wins, the setbacks, and what needs to change for more solutions to scale.
