Join us in celebrating Venture Café Edinburgh’s first anniversary in this very special Thursday Gathering! 🎉
Meaningful ideas and changes are sparked when serendipitous connection collides with intention. The Thursday Gathering is our free, weekly meet-up that connects people from across Edinburgh’s innovation community to make things happen. Every Thursday, we bring together innovators of all backgrounds, from founders and investors to students and researchers, to discuss big ideas and connect human to human.

Generative models and "AI scientists" can now design millions of proteins and complex genetic circuits in silico in seconds. But in biology, digital designs are worthless until they are built, tested, and validated in the physical world.
As one of the UK’s newly appointed ARIA Activation Partners, the Edinburgh Genome Foundry is transforming automated laboratory infrastructure into an AI-native testbed. This session will open up the discussion about the most critical bottleneck in modern science: How do we generate structured, reproducible, "AI-ready" biological data at scale? And what happens when AI agents take control of physical robotic experimentation?
Throughout this conversation, we will aim to shift the narrative from "AI will solve biology" to “AI models fail without standardised, AI-readable, high-throughput physical verification”. In other words, scientific data needs to be AI-ready to unlock the full potential of the AI scientist.
Take a seat and hear from Venture Café Edinburgh Director, Claudia Cavalluzzo who will go through how to make the most of a Thursday Gathering and give you a quick preview of what's in line for this week's event.
Venture Café is a global movement built on a simple but powerful belief: isolation is the enemy of innovation.
At our weekly Thursday Gatherings, we connect creators, entrepreneurs, investors, coworkers, students and visionaries to build strong, inclusive and equitable innovation ecosystem. As ecosystem activators, Venture Café Edinburgh is creating a central hub for the city's innovation ecosystem, driving visibility, collaboration and community.
